The existing design of intercity buses with low floors, which facilitates passengers’ entry, prevented the busses reaching city’s areas with bumpy terrains or high sidewalks. The buses’ chassis structure cracked and collapsed due to the impact from bumps in those city’s areas.
Ziv-Av was approached to diagnose the sources of the cracks and provide a reliable design for retrofitting the vehicles.
Ziv-Av performed critical failure analysis of the cracked structures in order to map the problem.
Ziv-Av’s extensive survey successfully diagnosed and identified the root cause of the cracks in the bus chassis.
Ziv-Av’s in-depth diagnosis detected the source of cracks as well as clarified that the chassis needed repairing.
Following the failure analysis, Ziv-Av came up with a retrofit design.
The new design allows the buses to reach city streets having high bumps, curbs and sidewalks without being damaged.
